The 3 FAFSA Important Requirements and Deadlines you can’t miss!

When applying for FAFSA there are three important deadlines that you must watch out for so you don't miss out on your financial aid.

The federal government, state government, and schools have different dates by which you must complete your FAFSA because all three use information from your application to determine your eligibility.

First, there is the School Deadline

The school deadline varies depending on which career school or college you have chosen, and it typically comes before any of the other deadlines. If you have chosen multiple schools, find out the specific deadline for each school and submit your FAFSA form by the priority date to receive the best aid package. This information can be found on their school page, or you can contact the school's financial aid office.

Second, there is the State Deadline

In order to be eligible for state grants and scholarships then you will have to submit your FAFSA application before your state of legal residence’s FAFSA deadline.

Just a friendly reminder: Your legal residence is the state where your permanent address is located. If you relocated to a state solely for educational purposes, please do not consider that state as your permanent address.

Lastly, there is the Federal Deadline

This last deadline comes from the U.S. Department of Education. This deadline is the last deadline of the three but you can make the most of your financial aid if you apply by the dates that are given by schools and states.

The federal deadline marks the final chance to submit the FAFSA form for the current academic year, after which the form will be closed June 30th. Keep a lookout for these important deadlines as they affect funding.
