Dear Parents of College Bound Kiddos!!
We know UC admissions in 2027-2028, families are most concerned about the intense competition, with acceptance rates possibly dipping into single digits and average GPAs hovering near 3.95.
The UC system's likely flat enrollment due to budget constraints means fewer spots, making it even tougher to get in.
Academics are key—completing all A-G requirements and excelling in rigorous courses (like AP/IB) is essential.
While test-optional policies are shifting, strong SAT/ACT scores could still help. Admissions teams also look closely at how you'd contribute to campus life, so meaningful extracurriculars and thoughtful personal insight essays matter.
Financially, rising tuition and uncertain state funding are big worries, especially for low-income and first-gen families.
Submitting your application early (by Nov 1) and applying for fee waivers and financial aid on time can help ease some of that stress. |
